Director & Devising Artist

"Working with Stephanie was one of the most positive, inspirational and creative experiences I've ever had" - Louise Monaghan, playwright and film maker
I'm Stephanie, a director and theatre maker who makes structurally daring, irreverent and scrutinising work that is socially driven and aims to build communities. I graduated from RCSSD with an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice (distinction) in 2018, which built on my existing practice as a teacher and theatre-maker.
I work as a freelance director and is co-founder of experimental, digital theatre company Hot Cousin. I have been mentored by Sarah Thom and Ayla Suveren from Gob Squad and Nick Patridge as part of JMK Director's Scheme.

"Weird, experimental theatre at its finest" — Spy in the Stalls
I’m known for a collaborative and nurturing rehearsal room (I was a teacher for 15 years, and I can’t shake it) and there will always be biscuits.

I’m particularly drawn to politically curious and joyfully trashy new writing that has a playful form and has potential for a bit of experimentation.

"an unforgettable and poignant watch" — Theatre Weekly

I live with a chronic health condition which impacts the way I view and make work and I like finding ways to evoke big ideas that foster connection, empathy and understanding.

I've worked across different genres and forms. I like interdisciplinary approaches. I've made films, written texts, painted canvases, been part of installations, moved my body, written manifestos, and directed musicals,.

"an entertaining and illuminating romp through astrophysics and humanity" — Everything Theatre

I work across live and hybrid performance, see my work with Hot Cousin. I've recently taken time out to have twins in 2023 and I'm now actively seeking new directing and devising projects.
